How to ping fleets

One way to advertise a fleet is to ping it out. This alerts every player on our Discord that we are going for a fleet and heading into battle. As such, it is important that your pings are easy to understand and we made a page guiding you to do that correctly!

Before we get started, it is important to understand when you should ping. In principle it boils down to this question: “Does the target pose a threat to multiple people”. If your answer is yes, but it is only 3-4 random guys roaming around; you head towards Mumble. If it's a large target or a fleet like Volta / Inner Hell, you are fine to ping to warn people. Common sense is king; please do not abuse pings.

There are many different situations where you may ping someone. It is important to ping the correct group of people; else we may not get the correct response (or a grumpy member from HC!).

• @everyone:
  This is used by registered FCs and leadership for CTA/StratOps and crucial fleets like defending rorquals or our SOV.
  
  
• @here:
  This is used by members for general home defense, fun fleets and pre-pings for CTA/StratOps.
  
  
• @Fleet Commander
  This is used to alert an FC to get content, possibly to escalate or to help organise a response. In some cases this may be used to request a FAT-link if none has been granted.
  
  
• @High Council
  You may only use this to ping if structures (JBs) are offline or other structures are inoperable. Please do not ping for anything else; doing so wrongly may lead to consequences.

• #announcement :: For HC and FCs to post important updates.
• #fleet-pings :: For any and all fleets, which include fun fleets, CTAs, StratOps, hype pings.
• #moon-pings :: For all moon operators to post their moon chunk detonations.
• #general-pings :: For all regular members that want to ping content; please do not abuse.
